the international event applying high technology to naval defence and
maritime security and safety
As the 24th edition of EURONAVAL closed its doors this Friday evening at Paris-Le-Bourget, feedback was overwhelmingly positive from the 30,000 or so people involved in the event; exhibitors, official delegations, leading international and European organisations, visitors and journalists. The French biennial event, founded in 1968, once again confirms its position as world leader of exhibitions for naval defence, marine safety and security in the eyes of the large number of international decision-makers present this year.
As a showcase of international industrial excellence with sales figures of 40 billion Euros each year for military vessel construction and equiment alone, EURONAVAL is testimony to the rise in the importance of the maritime state in new international geo-strategic power balances in the 21st century. Over the next twenty years the international market devoted to naval defence construction alone is close to 900 billion Euros. For this 2014 edition, EURONAVAL welcomed two new national pavilions with Australia and India, as well as new exhibitors from Belgium, Korea, United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
A strategic exhibition
This year, 90 high-level delegations from 70 countries covering the five continents responded positively to France’s invitation, a sign of EURONAVALs prominence abroad. The 300 high-level political and military authorities who map out the structure of the future’s international navies were able to meet the 350 exhibitors from 28 countries, who presented the most sophisticated, high-performance skills on the market.
Showcase for the navy of tomorrow
Inaugurated by the Minister for Defence Mr Jean-Yves Le Drian, this year the French biennial event covering a surface area of over 15,000 square metres was host to particularly important international visitors throughout the 5-day exhibition, with 110 nationalities and more than 300 accredited journalists from all over the world, present to cover this edition dedicated to high-technology, with particular focus on virtual and augmented reality.
